The date idea for this month is to plan something special for Valentine’s Day. It doesn’t have to be extravagant, but it should be special and thoughtful. Think about what your spouse likes. Do something for them that will make them feel happy and loved. Each day we should show the person in our life that we care, but it is nice to have a designated day to do something a little extra. Your plan can be something fun, romantic, exciting; whatever will make your loved one feel appreciated. Remember to have fun, and happy Valentine’s Day!
Date Night…
Yesterday Anthony and I went out on a date. We love to spend time together. When we go out we usually see a movie, go to dinner, shop, do a fitness or martial arts class together, and many other activities. We make our marriage a priority and we make one another feel special. Sometimes our dates are for both of us, other times they are just for me, or just for him. Yesterday was a date just for me. Anthony took me shopping and bought me a couple of new items that I wanted.
It wasn’t about the money or the amount he spent. In fact, I purchased my items on a budget. It was the time he spent with me doing what I wanted that meant the most; and it was his heart in doing it. Earlier in the day, he came to me and suggested the idea of taking me out to buy a few new things that I wanted. It was sweet of him to think of me in this manner and set himself aside to make me happy. In this same way, I think of him. Tonight was his night for a “date.” I went with him to our local MMA gym and watched him spar. Afterwards, we went and had dinner together.
Sometimes, it can’t be about you. It needs to be about your spouse. Likewise, at times it needs to be about you only. Other times, it is about both of you. It is finding the balance between the two that makes the difference, and allowing the Lord to be the head of your marriage; leading, guiding, and directing you. The Bible says;
“Love suffers long, and is kind; love does not envy; love does not promote itself, is not puffed up, does not behave badly, seeks not her own, is not easily provoked, thinks no evil; does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails” 1Corinthians 13:4-8.
God loves marriage and His heart is to bless the marriage covenant. When you honor one another, you honor God and the sacred bond between you and your spouse. Start by putting your spouse first this weekend. Do something kind for them, even if it’s a small gesture; and do it without expecting anything in return. Let the Lord move in the heart of your spouse. You do your part, and watch your love flourish and take a step forward in faith. Remember; have fun!!!
