The Bible says; “Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over…” (Luke 6:38 NKJV). It is very important to the Lord that you are giving into His kingdom; and honoring Him and the ministers that are spiritually feeding your life with your tithes and offerings. When you give into God’s work you are making war against the devil and all his devices through your obedience and faith to give as the Lord commands you. The Scriptures liken giving unto a farmer who sows and reaps. When you sow a good seed into good soil you reap a plentiful harvest. When sowing a financial seed there are three questions that a person should ask. These questions are; where does God want me to give? How much does God want me to give, and what does He want me to believe for in sowing my seed?
These are vital questions because a person’s obedience in giving is just as important as the gift itself. Giving should not be a religious ritual. It should be an act of obedience led by the Holy Spirit. When you give you honor the Lord, and it is an act of faith that displays your willingness to yield to God’s Presence in your life. When you do this you are showing the Lord that you trust Him. It is true that people often have a difficult time giving their finances; they hold tightly because they want to be in control, and hold fast to the security that money brings them. The Lord will often come to a person and ask them to give a financial gift at a point of crucifixion in their life. Meaning; it is something that is a stretch for them to do and it tests their faith. When you obey Him and sow a financial seed, it unlocks the blessings for your life and moves the heart of God. Giving into God’s Kingdom is one of the spiritual weapons that the Lord gives us to break the power of the devil against our lives.
A perfect example of this is displayed in the Scriptures. In 1 Kings 17:8-16 NKJV it says; Then the word of the LORD came to him, saying, “Arise, go to Zarephath, which belongs to Sidon, and dwell there. See, I have commanded a widow there to provide for you.” So he arose and went to Zarephath. And when he came to the gate of the city, indeed a widow was there gathering sticks. And he called to her and said, “Please bring me a little water in a cup, that I may drink.” And as she was going to get it, he called to her and said, “Please bring me a morsel of bread in your hand.” So she said, “As the LORD your God lives, I do not have bread, only a handful of flour in a bin, and a little oil in a jar; and see, I am gathering a couple of sticks that I may go in and prepare it for myself and my son, that we may eat it, and die.” And Elijah said to her, “Do not fear; go and do as you have said, but make me a small cake from it first, and bring it to me; and afterward make some for yourself and your son. For thus says the LORD God of Israel: ‘The bin of flour shall not be used up, nor shall the jar of oil run dry, until the day the LORD sends rain on the earth.” So she went away and did according to the word of Elijah; and she and he and her household ate for many days. The bin of flour was not used up, nor did the jar of oil run dry, according to the word of the LORD which He spoke by Elijah.
In obeying God’s word spoken through His servant, this woman honored the Lord and His servant; and in return the Lord filled her vats with oil and flour. She did not go without. She had more than enough to cook and eat. She gave to God out of her lack and He gave back to her much more. Right now you may be like the woman who gave her last cake to the prophet. You feel the Holy Spirit tugging at your heart and asking you to give into His Kingdom’s work, but you are unsure and feeling fearful about your financial security. Allow the Lord to speak to your heart and guide you in your decision. Pray over your seed. “Name Your Seed;” asking God for what you have need of; believing by faith that He will wrought a miracle in your life. The Bible says; “I tell you the truth, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you” (Matthew 17:20 NIV).
Through your financial giving you can receive an inheritance in the Gospel. Not every person is called to the full time ministry. There are those who are called by God to preach and teach the Gospel on a full time basis. However, those who are not called have an equally important job. Their job is to pray and intercede for those on the front lines of the ministry, to be an example to those around them in their daily lives, and to give financially so that ministers can be sent to preach the Gospel to the world. The Bible says; How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach unless they are sent? As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the gospel of peace, Who bring glad tidings of good things!” (Romans 10: 14-15 NKJV) When you give into God’s Kingdom through sowing your financial seeds into the good soil of His ministries, then you are helping to send those who have been called by God to preach the Gospel, and in this you receive your portion of the inheritance of the saints.
This day, I encourage you to exercise your faith, and seek the Lord regarding your giving. If you are in a place of need in your life, give unto God as He commands you and allow Him the room to work a miracle in your life. He is there, and He will not let you down. You can start by praying this prayer aloud;
Dear Lord Jesus,
I ask that You would forgive me of my sins and wash me clean with Your blood. I seek You this day regarding my finances and my financial giving. I ask that You would forgive me for in any way not giving as You have asked me to, and I pray that You would show me the higher way to walk in this matter. I ask for You to speak to my heart, and lead me in my giving. Please fill my heart with the faith I need to obey You.
In Jesus Mighty Name I Pray,
Amen
