Purpose…

Did you know that God loves you and has a plan designed just for your life? The Bible says; “For I know the plans that I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for calamity to give you a future and a hope” (Jeremiah 29:11 NAS). Before you were born the Lord knew you. He knew what you would look like, what talents and giftings He would place in your life, and what purpose and direction He would give you on Earth. “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you…” (Jeremiah 1:5 NAS).

Many people walk throughout life and do not feel a sense of purpose. They feel worthless and they think that they hold no value. This is simply not true. Each and every person has worth to God and each person is fashioned in God’s image and created for His purposes. It is up to each individual to choose the Lord in their lives and choose to fulfill their purpose on Earth. The Bible says in John 3:16 NAS “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal life.”

The first step in fulfilling your purpose is knowing Jesus and surrendering your life to Him; believing that He is the Lord and Savior of the world, and that He died on the cross for your sins and rose again that you might have life and have it more abundantly. When you receive Jesus into your life it fills the hole in your heart that each and every person has and it sets you on the path to fulfill all that the Lord has in store for your life. “And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose. For those whom He foreknew, He also predestined to become conformed to the image of His Son, so that He would be the firstborn among many brethren; and these whom He predestined, He also called; and these whom He called, He also justified; and these whom He justified, He also glorified. What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who is against us? He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him over for us all, how will He not also with Him freely give us all things?” (Romans 8:28-32 NAS).

It is never too late to serve God in your life. It is never too late to be used for His purposes. It is never too late to find the true meaning in your life. In the Bible in the book of Genesis it speaks of Sarah the wife of Abraham, who was a woman the Lord had chosen for a specific purpose. God had promised her a son. When He spoke this over her life, she was older in years and far passed the age of child bearing. At first, it was hard for her to believe that this would come to pass. However, God fulfilled His promise and she bore a son one year later, whose name was Isaac. Isaac begot Jacob who had twelve sons who became the twelve tribes of Israel. Jesus is of the lineage of the tribe of Judah, and He is known as the Lion of Judah. This was a rich heritage the Lord gave Sarah and Abraham and He used their lives, even in their older years for a specific plan and purpose.

As it is never too late to serve the Lord, it is also never too early to be used for the Lord’s purposes. Many people live their lives selfishly, thinking that maybe one day they will give their heart to Jesus, but they are unwilling to serve Him right here and right now. This is a foolish choice because one never knows what tomorrow might bring. The Bible talks about seeking the Lord while He may be found. If He is knocking on the door of your heart in this moment, then grab hold of Him, and recognize that His presence in your life is a gift.

In the Bible in the book of Jeremiah it talks about the prophet Jeremiah. When the Lord called Jeremiah he was a youth, young in years, and unsure of his calling. Jeremiah replied to the Lord’s call by saying he was only a youth and did not know what or how to speak. The Lord replied back to him by telling him not to say that he was only a youth, and to be confident that wherever the Lord commanded him to go and whatever the Lord commanded him to say he would fulfill. The Lord put His words in the mouth of Jeremiah and used his life for a mighty purpose. Jeremiah spoke the words the Lord commanded him to speak to the people and to the King of Israel. All that Jeremiah spoke, the Lord brought to pass because it was the words of the Lord spoken through him and it fulfilled a great purpose in God’s Kingdom.

If the Lord is knocking on the door of your heart I encourage you to take hold of His hand and not allow this opportunity to pass you by. It does not matter who you are, where you have been, or what you have done in your life. The Lord Jesus loves you and He is there for you. He is drawing your heart and speaking to you in this moment for a reason. It is not by accident that you are reading these words and hearing this message of hope. The Lord is at work in your life, even if you can’t see it or recognize it. Take hold of Jesus and be forever changed.

You can start by praying this prayer aloud to Him;

Dear Lord Jesus,

Forgive me of my sins and wash me clean with Your blood. I ask that You would come into my heart and be the Lord of my life. I receive You as my Lord and Savior and I believe You are The Christ, The Messiah, and The Son of God. I ask that You would fill me with Your Holy Spirit. I ask that You would reveal the plan and purpose You have for my life, and I ask that You would show me the way. Reveal Your will for me and I surrender to Your plan and purposes for my life.

In Jesus Mighty Name I Pray,

Amen
